Michael R. Ricupito, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Michael R. Ricupito, a native California, was raised in Fremont. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors from San Jose State University. He went on to complete his dental school education and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree with high honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, graduating with distinction in 1983.

After teaching at UOP and practicing general dentistry, Dr. Ricupito returned to complete his post doctorate orthodontic residency at the U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry, receiving a Master of Science in Oral Biology and ADA certification in the Specialty of Orthodontics. Dr. Ricupito is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Ricupito’s activities include three years of varsity football at San Jose State University. Professionally, for the past 25 years, he serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Orthodontics at U.O.P. department of orthodontics. Dr. Ricupito also served as a dental consultant for the UCLA Athletic department and in 1985-1988 as well as dental consultant for the USFL Philadelphia Stars.

On the state level, Dr. Ricupito served as an expert examiner for the California Dental Board from 1990- 2001 and continues to serve as a subject matter expert consultant for the California Dental Board since 1989. Locally, he has served on the Board for the Southern Alameda County Dental Society since 1988, elected President in 1994. He then served seven years as Trustee of the California Dental Association. Concurrently, Dr. Ricupito continues to serve the orthodontic specialty organization since 1998 and was elected President of the California Association of Orthodontists in 2004. He continues to serve on a variety of committees for both the CAO and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry, the Academy of Dentistry International, as well as a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He also holds fellowship in the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. In 2016, he was honored by receiving the “Distinguished Service Award” from the California Association of Orthodontists for his contributions to the orthodontic profession.

Dr. Ricupito currently maintains private orthodontic practices in Fremont and Danville, California. He is married to Jana, a former school teacher and flight attendant for Delta Airlines. Dr. Ricupito has a son, Michael, a former D1 baseball player and in his senior year dental student at the UOP Dugoni School of Dentistry.

In his spare time away from the office, his hobbies including coaching at the high school. He loves cooking with friends and family and, as a certified BBQ judge for Kanas City BBQ society, he enjoys attending state wide competitions and judging good Bar B Que!
